Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the causes, diagnosis and treatment of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP). MethodsFourteen AGEP patients admitted to our hospital from January 2004 to November 2011 were retrospectively analyzed. ResultsThirteen of the 14 AGEP patients had a history of drug-intake, and four patients had a history of upper respiratory tract infection. The main manifestations were fever and sudden onset eruptions characterized by generalized erythema and non-follicular pustules.ConclusionsFor AGEP, the most common cause was drug-intake, especially traditional Chinese medicine injections with activating blood circulation and resolving stasis functions, second by the antibiotics. Fever and leukocytosis are universal. Once the inciting agent is discontinued or cleared, the eruption resolves within 15 days without sequelae.
