Curative effect of combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in treatment of 72 cases of acne vulgaris

Abstract:Objective To investigate the curative effect of combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for acne vulgaris. Methods Seventy-two cases in the treatment group were treated by self-made decoction, meanwhile VitB6 and metronidazole tablets taken orally, metronidazole gel and adapalene gel externally applied at every morning and evening respectively;the control group of 45 cases didn’t given the decoction, other treatments of the control group were same to the treatment group. Results The cure rate of the treatment group was 55.56%, the total effective rate was 81.94%, cure rate of the control group was 24.44%, the total effective rate was 57.78%. There were statistically significant difference of cure rate and total effective rate between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion For the treatment of acne vulgaris, combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine could produce a more satisfactory curative effect, which with little side effect.
