Abstract:Skin is frequently exposed to a variety of physical and chemical factors exist in the environment, which maybe act as the inducers of different skin diseases and cancers. Ultraviolet irradiation (UVR) is the main external stress that leads to immunosuppression, photoaging, and carcinogenesis of the skin tissue. Polyphenols is the main component of green tea that play a important role in the aspects of anti-oxidation, immunosuppression, and chemical prevention so as to provide protection for the skin. Drinking or topically applying green tea or polyphenols are convenient, effective and safe, these are not only the important preventive measures for skin damage caused by ultraviolet irradiation, but also the promising approaches to prevent and treat skin photo-damage.
