Research advances on the role of adipokines in the pathogenesis of psoriasis

Abstract:Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease, which is frequently accompanied by systemic metabolic diseases. As an endocrine organ, adipose tissue can secrete numerous factors called adipokines, which are involved in the pathogenesis of many kinds of metabolic and inlfammatory diseases. Nowadays, some adipokines have been identiifed to be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, which would be used as new biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment of poriasis in the future.
