Clinical study of Xinhuang tablets combined with isotretinoin erythromycin gel in the treatment of acne vulgaris
Abstract:Objective To observe the efifcacy and safety of Xinhuang tablets combined with isotretinoin erythromycin gel in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Methods One hundred and iffty-ifve patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris were randomly divided into the treatment group (n=80) and the control group (n=72). Both the two groups were topically treated with isotretinoin erythromycin gel once every night for 6 weeks, meanwhile the treatment group additionally given Xinhuang tablets, 3 tablets each time, 3 times/d. Followed up 6 weeks, clinical efifcacy and adverse reactions were evaluated at 2, 4, 6 weeks of the treatment. Results The effective rate of the treatment group and the control group were 21.51%and 14.29%respectively at 2 weeks of the treatment, and there was no statistical difference (P>0.05). The effective rates of the treatment group (54.43%, 84.81%) were signiifcant higher than those of the control group (30.00%, 54.29%) at 4 and 6 weeks of the treatment respectively (P<0.01). The main drug related adverse reaction was local irritation symptoms, and the incidence of the treatment group and the control group were 29.11%and 29.58%respectively, there was no statistically signiifcant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The treatment of Xinhuang tablets combined with isotretinoin erythromycin gel for acne vulgaris is effective, safe and with less adverse reactions.
