Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efifcacy of topical 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum. Methods Fifty patients with condyloma were divided into 2 groups, the treatment group (26 cases) accepted ALA-PDT treatment, and the control group (29 cases) given liquid nitrogen cryotherapy. The therapeutic effect and recurrence rate were evaluated at 12 weeks after the last treatment. Results The cure rate of the treatment group and the control group were 76.9%and 48.3%respectively, and the recurrence rate of the treatment group and the control group were 23.1%and 51.7%respectively, the recurrence rate had statistically signiifcant difference (P<0.05) between the two groups. Conclusion ALA-PDT in the treatment of condyloma has higher cure rate and lower recurrence rate.
