Abstract:Objective To analyze the prevalence and regularity of distribution of human papilloma virus (HPV) among the patients who had skin squamous cell carcinoma(SSCC), and investigate the relationship between HPV and SSCC. Methods 300 lesions organization parafifn embedding samples were selected and the HPV DNA was tested by PCR. The main detection type of HPV DNA were HPV6, 11, 16, 18, 31 and 33. Results 188 were HPV positive in all the 300 SSCC samples, the infection rate of HPV was 62.67%;66.33%had HPV in male SSCC and 55.78%in female, but the difference had no statistical signiifcance (P>0.05). 67.86%of high differentiation (grade I and II) group were HPV positive, 47.37%in low differentiation (grade III and IV) group, and the difference had statistical signiifcance (P<0.01). The infection rate of HPV located in head face, neck , limbs, trunk and genital and groin were 70.23%, 65.79%, 43.33%, 28.00% and 68.42% respectively and these differences of infection rate had statistical signiifcance (P<0.01). The number of high risk type was 51, and low risk type was 49 which were all unitary type infection. The difference of infection rate of HPV between high differentiation (gradeⅠandⅡ) group and low differentiation group had statistical signiifcance (P<0.01) and so was in low differentiation (grade Ⅲand Ⅳ) group. The difference of infection rate of HPV between each location had no statistical signiifcance (P>0.05) both in high or low differentiation group. Conclusion The detection of the HPV type is helpful for the prevention and treatment of SSCC.
