Abstract:Objective To compare the therapeutic effects of the"floating bridge"technique and the levator aponeurosis shorten-ing procedure in the correction of mild to moderate ptosis of the upper eyelid. Methods A total of 88 patients(133 eyes)with ptosis ad-mitted to the Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery,Xuzhou First People's Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were selected as study subjects.Based on the surgical procedure, the patients were divided into an observation group(67 eyes, treated with the"floating bridge"technique)and a control group(66 eyes, treated with levator aponeurosis shortening procedure). The postoperative marginal reflex distance 1(MRD1)values and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The mean preoperative and postoperative MRD1 values in the observation group were(1.38±0.54)mm and(3.63±0.41)mm,respectively,showing a significant difference(P<0.001).In the control group, the mean preoperative and postoperative MRD1 values were(1.31±0.50)mm and(3.15±0.31)mm,respectively,also showing a significant difference(P<0.001).There was no statistical difference in preoperative MRD1 values between the two groups(P=0.398).However,there was a statistically significant difference in postoperative MRD1 values between the two groups(P<0.001).In the observation group, the incidence of complications was 7.4%,whereas in the control group, the incidence of complications was 19.7%,with a statistically significant difference between the groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Both the levator aponeurosis shortening surgery and the"floating bridge"technique can improve ptosis. The postoperative effect of the"floating bridge"technique is more stable and lasting, with a lower incidence of complications.
