Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility and clinical effect of splicing U shaped forearm flap in the reconstruction of postoperative tongue cancer defects. Methods Eight patients with tongue cancer who underwent oral and maxillofacial surgery in our hospital from September 2022 to September 2024 were selected and reconstructed with splicing U shaped forearm flap, and the wound of donor site was directly sutured by optimizing flap design(U shaped design). Results All the 8 splicing U-shaped forearm flaps survived, the texture and appearance of the splicing flaps were good, and there were no complications such as speech and swallowing dysfunction. The donor site healed in one stage, and there was no need for skin grafting. The scar width was less than 3 mm.There is no limitation of forearm motor function. Conclusion The splicing U-shaped forearm flap can effectively repair the small and medium-sized postoperative defects of tongue cancer, without requiring a third surgical site for skin grafting while minimizing donor site trauma. It is an ideal way to re-pair the postoperative defects of tongue cancer.
