Abstract:Ferroptosis is a form of programmed cell death driven by oxidative stress and iron-dependent lipid peroxidation,is dis-tinct from classical apoptosis pathways. Its molecular regulatory network involves the interplay of multiple pathological mechanisms,in-cluding glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)dysfunction,cystine/glutamate antiporter system(System Xc-)impairment,lipid metabolism dys-regulation,and iron overload.Emerging evidence highlights the critical role of ferroptosis in the pathological progression of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts and its involvement in various fibrotic disorders. The molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis are reviewed, and the biological response related to the existence of an interaction between fibroblasts of hypert scars and ferroptosis is further explored. The relationship between the two is investigated in depth.
