Research progress of crosslinking agents for hyaluronic acid

Abstract：Cross-linked hyaluronic acid(HA)injections exhibit prolonged duration,high cohesiveness,and elasticity,making them widely used in medical aesthetics.The most commonly used crosslinking agent is 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether(BDDE).To eluci-date its metabolic pathways,metabolites,safe dosage,formulations and applications in new preparations,as well as research on the poten-tially safer crosslinking agent-Poly(ethylene glycol)(N)diglycidyl ether(PEGDGE),this review provides a comprehensive discussion.
