Comparative efficacy of hyaluronic acid and collagen in lower eyelid rejuvenation

Abstract：Objective To compare the therapeutic effects of hyaluronic acid(HA)and collagen in lower eyelid rejuvenation.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 48 patients with lower eyelid aging who visited the outpatient clinic from September 2022 to June 2023.Among them,24 patients received hyaluronic acid injections(Group A),and 24 received collagen injections(Group B).The tear trough and palpebromalar groove were evaluated using the Allergan Scale,and dark circles were assessed using the Park Infraor-bital Dark Circles Scale before treatment,immediately after injection,and at 3 months post-treatment.Postoperative complications were al-so recorded.Results There was a statistically significant difference in tear trough and palpebromalar groove scores between the two groups before treatment,immediately after treatment,and at 3 months post-treatment(P<0.001).Group B showed superior efficacy in improving dark circles compared to Group A(P<0.05).Conclusion Both hyaluronic acid and collagen can be effectively used for injectable treat-ment of tear trough and palpebromalar groove,with significant therapeutic outcomes.Collagen demonstrates superior efficacy in improving dark circles.
