Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of combined modified alar reduction and botulinum toxin A injection in correcting nasal alar hypertrophy. Methods From January 2017 to October 2024,10 patients with nasal alar hypertrophy were operated by com-bined modified alar reduction and botulinum toxin A injection.During the operation, part of the nasal vestibular skin was excised. After tightening the suture, the alar composite tissue flap was retracted and internally rotated. After adjustment satisfaction, the redundant com-posite flap tissue was removed. The adducted and internally rotated alar and nasal base were sutured to achieve the purpose of reducing the nasal alar and nasal base. All patients received botulinum toxin A injection into the greater nostril muscle area at the time of suture removal 1 week after surgery. The method of paired t-test was used to compare the nasal alar width and nasal base width of the two groups before and 6 months after surgery, and the difference was considered to be statistically significant when P<0.05.The patients were invited to par-ticipate in the evaluation of the satisfaction level of the postoperative result at 6 months after surgery. Results All 10 patients were fol-lowed up for 1 to 6 months, and the stitches were successfully removed 1 week after surgery without any complications such as incision de-hiscence or infection. The difference in nasal alar width and nasal base width before and 6 months after surgery was statistically significant(P<0.001).Satisfaction evaluation:7 cases were satisfied and 3 cases were relatively satisfied. Conclusion Combined modified alar re-duction and botulinum toxin A injection in the treatment of nasal alar hypertrophy has an exact effect and high patient satisfaction, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
