Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical application effect of artificial dermis in the treatment of deep hydrofluoric acid burnns on fingers. Methods A total of 10 patients with 27 fingers of third-degree hydrofluoric acid burns were admitted to Department of Bum and Plastic Surgery,Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital from July 2021 to July 2022.One week after the burn, the affected fingers were debrided and artificial dermis was implanted after the boundaries of the necrotic tissue were clear. After the operation, the dressing was changed regularly and the infection and vascularization of the artificial dermis were observed. After 2 to 3 weeks, the artificial dermis silicone membrane was separated, and the wound underneath healed spontaneously. Results A total of 27 fingers of 10 cases were treated with artificial dermis. No skin grafting was performed on the wound surface at the later stage. All wounds healed spontaneously without in-fection or other complications. The average follow-up period was 12 months(6 to 15 months)after surgery. The affected fingers had beauti-ful appearance, good elasticity,no swelling, depression, obvious scars or pigmentation;and normal function without obvious sensory impair-ment.Conclusion Artificial dermis repair is used for patients with small-area deep hydrofluoric acid burns on their fingers. The wound surface can be repaired without flap transfer or secondary skin grafting, and both the appearance and function are restored well.
