Abstract:Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved process that exists widely in eukaryotes. As a mechanism of programmed cell death, autophagy is formed by surrounding the cytoplasmic components, organelles and proteins that need to be decomposed by the cell membrane.Subsequently, the autophagosome binds to the lysosome and is transformed into an autophagolysosome, which contains sub-stances that are degraded, which helps to maintain the metabolic balance of the cell, promote the metabolism of the organelles, and maintain a stable state of the internal environment of the cell.Pathological scar,on the other hand,is a type of skin fibrosis caused by abnormal wound healing, mainly manifested as hypertrophic scar and keloid. This condition not only affects the patient's appearance and physical function, but may also cause localized pain or discomfort.Since autophagy plays a key role in the development of pathological scar, this ar-ticle reviews the role and mechanism of autophagy in pathological scar formation.
