Abstract:In the field of plastic surgery, cartilage transplantation is often used for various nasal cosmetic and repair operations. However, the problem of postoperative cartilage absorption also exists, which has many adverse consequences and directly affects the aes-thetic effect of surgery. It not only damages the external image of patients, but also may have a negative impact on their psychological state, resulting in reduced patient satisfaction and poor prognosis. The factors of cartilage resorption mainly include pre-operative,intraoperative and postoperative factors, but the specific mechanism still needs further clinical and basic experimental research. This article reviews the common cartilage grafts used in rhinoplasty and their postoperative cartilage absorption rate, the factors affecting the absorption, and the possible absorption mechanism.
