Skin-redraping epicanthoplasty combined with the modified Hotz procedure in the correction of moderate and severe trichi-asis caused by entropion in children

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical application of skin-redraping epicanthoplasty combined with the modified Hotz procedure in the correction of moderate and severe trichiasis caused by entropion in children.Methods From January 2021 to January 2024,30 cases with moderate and severe trichiasis caused by entropion,by using skin-redraping epicanthoplasty combined with the modi-fied Hotz method under general anesthesia,were evaluated for adverse complications,corrective effect,recurrence rate,and satisfaction.Results All cases were followed up for 6 to 36 months,the effective rate was 100%,the recurrence rate was 3.3%and satisfaction rate was 90.0%,with minor adverse complications.Conclusion This procedure is worth promoting in the treatment of moderate,severe trichi-asis caused by entropion in children,as it adapts to the growth and development of children,takes into account the corrective effect and aesthetic needs,and has a low recurrence rate.
