Clinical effect of small serrated flap in repairing facial scar

Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of small-serrated flap technique in improving facial scar.Methods From October 2020 to October 2022,90 patients with facial scar width<0.5 cm with or without depression admitted to the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery,Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were retrospectively ana-lyzed.A zigzag incision with a margin of<0.3 cm was designed.After removing the scar,the skin margin was fully freed and then sutured.Tension was controlled locally with a tension reduction tape for 6 months after surgery.Evaluate patient satisfaction.Results Ninety pa-tients were followed up for 6 months after operation,the facial scar of the patients improved significantly and the satisfaction was high.Conclusion Using small serrated incision to repair facial scar,combined with postoperative tensification treatment,can significantly im-prove the appearance of scar.
