Treatment of upper eyelid skin relaxation with skin soft tissue removal combined with dermal flap fixation

Abstract：Objective To introduce a method of correction of upper eyelid skin laxity with dermal flap fixation.Methods A total of 24 cases were diagnosed with relaxed or bloated upper eyelid skin.The designated skin below the eyebrow was excised and the dermal flap was developed.The excess orbicularis muscle or orbital septum was removed.Then the dermal flap was sutured to the surface of the frontal muscle,approximately 3 mm deep on the eyebrows.Results Patients were followed up for 3 months to 2 years.During that time,upper eyelid skin laxity or upper eyelid swelling in all patients was improved.The incision was concealed,the scar was not obvious,and the contour of the brow was natural.Conclusion Incision below the eyebrow and dermal flap fixation can be used to treat upper eyelid skin laxity and upper eyelid swelling in aging women.It is also suitable for the treatment of younger patients with bloated upper eyelids.This method results in a normal anatomy of the upper eyelid.The incision is concealed and the scar is not obvious.
