Clinical curative efficacy comparison of polidocanol foam and liquid for primary lower limb varicose veins: a meta-analysis study

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the curative efficacy of polidocanol foam and liquid for primary lower limb varicose veins.Methods Chinese and English databases including Wanfang Science and Technology Periodical Full-text Database,VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Full-text Database (VIP) and CNKI,PubMed,Web of Science,Science Direct Online and Cochrane Library were searched by computer.Some randomized controlled clinical trials for comparing the efficacy of polidocanol foam and liquid for primary lower limb varicose veins were collected for meta analysis.Results Six studies were searched,including 546 subjects for analysis.Through analysis,the effectiveness rate of the treatment group was superior to the control group (P<0.05).The combined OR for the effectiveness rate was 6.63 (95% CI:4.47,9.85).However,the complication rate of the treatment group yielded no evidence of obvious advantage over the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion The clinical curative efficacy of polidocanol foam is better than that of liquid.
