Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy of nasal tip integral support made of costal cartilage in comprehensive rhinoplasty. Methods Fifty-six patients who underwent comprehensive rhinoplasty were selected.First, partial cartilage of the right seventh rib was cut and carved into a "Y" shape. It was then used to build the support of the nasal tip.The contour of the nasal tip was constructed using cortical bone of the costal cartilage combined with dermal tissue. Results Rhinoplasties were successfully performed in all 56 patients.Among these patients,46 cases were followed up for 6 to 12 months. The appearance of the nasal tip was well maintained, and blood circulation was normal. No obvious absorption of the cartilage within the nasal tip was found. Conclusion The application of nasal tip integral support made of autologous costal cartilage in comprehensive rhinoplasty has a remarkable and stable outcome, especially for short nose lengthening,or contracted nose repair and nasal tip elevation.
