Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of epicanthoplasty with horizontal V-shaped full-thickness resection combined with double eyelid plasty. Methods Forty-eight cases of single eyelid combined with epicanthus were chosen for the study.A horizontal V-shaped area was designed. The apex of this area was located on the projection point in front of the inner canthus and the starting point of the epicanthus on the upper and lower eyelid,as two branches of the V-shape.Full-thickness removal of the V-shaped epicanthus combined with double eyelid plasty was performed. Results All incisions healed in stage Ⅰ.The follow-up was carried out for 3 to 38 months. The inner canthus appeared natural, and the upper and lower skin of the incision healed well, with no obvious scar and satisfactory results. Conclusion Epicanthoplasty with horizontal V-shaped full-thickness resection combined with double eyelids plasty is an effective surgical method. It not only makes the inner canthus larger, but also makes palpebral fissure become longer and wider, making the scar less obvious. The surgical procedure is simpler and should be considered for clinical application.
