Clinical experience summary of the treatment of silicone gel prosthesis rupture over a 10 year period

Abstract：Objective To compare and summarize the clinical manifestation and treatment efficacy in the treatment of silicone gel prosthesis rupture.Methods From December 2006 to December 2016,a total of 46 patients (61 ruptured silicone gel prosthesis) suffered prosthesis rupture,including 37 cases of breast augmentation and 9 cases of breast reconstruction.During the operation,the capsule was removed and the cavity was rinsed repeatedly with gentamicin saline solution,physiological saline,and diluted iodophor solution.A negative-pressure drainage tube was placed in the cavity.Results All cases healed in stage Ⅰ without postoperative hematoma,effusion,infection,or other clinical manifestation.Conclusion The removal of the capsule during the operation and extensive rinse with gentamicin saline are effective and safe for the treatment of silicone gel prosthesis rupture.
