Abstract:Objective To explore a new design method for periareolar incision mastopexy with a specialized tool. Methods A specialized tool called an "Areola ring" was designed and created to help to simulate the effect of breast lift.During preoperative design, the accurate position for the new nipple-areolar complex and the removal volume of the periareolar skin was also determined. At 3 months postoperative, the shape of the breast and the position of the nipple-areolar complex were assessed. Results A total of 48 patients were followed up for 3 months postoperative. All patients were satisfied with breast shape. No nipple-areolar complex malposition or irregularity was observed. Conclusion The application of the "Areola ring" tool in the preoperative design of the periareolar incision mastopexy was a simple and accurate method. This method is recommended for popularization in clinic.
