Method and experience of eyelid repair in 57 patients with malignant eyelid tumor

Abstract:Objective To explore the methodology and clinical efficacy of malignant eyelid tumor repair in different patients.Methods According to the types,location,and involved scope of the tumor,different repair methods were adopted to reconstruct the eyelids of 57 patients with malignant eyelid tumors.Results Of the 57 patients,51 patients were followed-up from 6 month to 5 years.Forty-seven patients achieved good eyelid appearance and function postoperatively.Parotid region metastasis occurred in three patients with meibomian gland carcinoma,2 cases recovered well after a secondary operation,and 1 case was not hospitalized.One patient with eyelid low differentiated squamous cell carcinoma experienced recurrence and metastasis postoperatively,and died of multiple metastases after comprehensive treatment.Conclusion Different repair methods were chosen according to the type,location,and involved scope of the tumor.This approach can achieve relatively satisfactory clinical results.
