Application of autologous follicular unit extraction technique in cicatricial alopecia

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of the autologous follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique in the treatment of cicatricial alopecia.Methods For patients with a small area of cicatricial alopecia in a stable stage,the follicular units (Fus) in the occipital area were extracted with the autologous FUE technique.After the autologous Fus were transplanted to thearea of cicatricial alopecia,the survival rate,hair growth direction,and scar coverage were observed.Results All 30 patients were followed up from 6 to 18 months.The region of cicatricial alopecia was covered with new hair and the direction of hair growth was consistent with the surrounding hair.No infection or other complications occurred.Conclusion The repair of cicatrical alopecia with autologous Fus can produce a pleasing aesthetic appearance,with little trauma,and a quick recovery.The patients were amenable to the operation and patient satisfaction was high.
