Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of the mandibular angle localizer in osteotomy of the mandible via the intraoral approach. Methods From August 2013 to December 2016,64 patients with a prominent mandible angle underwent arc osteotomy by localizer and partial amputation of the mandibular external plate. Results During follow-up from 3 months to 2 years, there were 2 patients without obvious improvements and 3 cases with slightly bilateral asymmetry.Other patients were satisfied with the improvement of the lower facial contour. No complications occurred,to include mandible fracture, facial artery rupture bleeding,or nervus alveolaris mandibularis (nervus mentalis) amputation. Conclusion A mandibular angle localizer can control osteotomy lines safely and effectively, and reduce the incidence of severe surgical complications.
