Efficacy of structural modified blepharoplasty in the correction of single eyelid combined with mild blepharoptosis

Abstract:Objective To explore the method and efficacy of structural modified blepharoplasty with "Y" flaps in cases of single eyelid combined with mild blepharoptosis.Methods Reconstruction of joint fascia to form "Y" flap and pedicle were performed for 53 cases with single eyelids combined with the mild blepharoptosis.Among these patients,38 cases with mild bhpharoptosis were corrected through tightening the levator palpebrae superioris aponeurosis.Redundant adipose tissue and fascia were removed.The orbicularis muscle below the in cisionwas slightly tightened and sutured to the corresponding position of the pedicle to form adouble eyelid with a natural appearance.Results Among the 53 cases,assymetry occurred in only 1 case of double-sided double eyelid width due to adhesion caused by hematoma.It was repaired with satisfactory results.All patients were followed up from 3 to 6 months.The appearance of the upper eyelid was effectively improved to the patients' and physicians' satisfaction.The incision was hidden.Conclusion Structural modified blepharoplasty can satisfy the aesthetic needs of patients with single eyelid combined with mild blepharoptosis.The appearance was natural and lifelike,and satisfaction was high.It should be considered for popularizationin clinic.
