Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of expanded flaps taken from the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery in the repair of the neck and napex scar. Methods Ten patients with neck and napex scar underwent two-stage surgery. In the first stage of the operation,a skin soft tissue expander with a volume from 400 ml to 800 ml was placed under the flaps of the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery on the same side of the scar.In the second stage of the operation, the scar was excised and fully released and the expanded flap of the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery was used to cover the wound. The donor site was then closed directly. Results All neck and napex scars were repaired effectively, and the incisions healed primarily. No blood disorder occurred in the expanded flap. The color and texture of the flap was similar to the surrounding skin.Patients were satisfied with the post-operative appearance. Conclusion The expanded flap taken from the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery was effective in the repair of the neck and napex scars. It should be considered for promotion in clinic.
