Abstract:Objective To study the vessel course and distribution in the cervical and auricular regions of the rabbit. Methods There were 8 rabbits involved in the study.Cervical and auricular vascular cast was created by chemical angioplasty.Observation and study of the vascular anatomical condition was conducted. Results There were 5 main branches of rabbit external carotid arteries, including occipital artery, superficial temporal artery, maxillary artery, facial artery, and lingual artery. The rabbit ear has a developed vascular network.Multiple branches of the anterior auricular artery and superficial temporal artery extending from the occipital artery provide blood for the ears.Of these arteries, the posterior auricular artery was the most important, accompanied by the rami medialis of the posterior auricular vein in the proximal auricle. Conclusion Understanding the vessel course and distribution of the cervical and auricular region in rabbits can provide an anatomical basis for the study of the rabbit auricular flap.
