Abstract:Objective To explore the practicability of Nagata film templates in auricular reconstruction with pre-expansion.Methods Eleven patients with Grade Ⅲ/ⅣV microtia were enrolled in the study. The reconstructed ear reference position (70 ml kidney-shape)was determined using the Nagata film template method. In the two-stage operation, costal cartilage was used to build the auricular framework. The Nagata film template was used to guide the location and direction of auricular framework implantation during the operation. Results All patients were followedup for 3 months postoperative. All were satisfied with the position, axial orientation, and 3D fine structures of the reconstructed ear. Conclusion The Nagata film template method can provide a precise location for expander placement,so as to achieve accurate and effective expansion of mastoid region skin.
