Application of polyacrylamide hydrogel in the treatment breast of capsular contracture due to silicon implantation(Ⅱ)
Abstract:Objective To introduce an of effective method and new material for treating the breast fibrotic capsule contracture after silicon breast implant augmentation. Methods From Oct. 1997 to Sept. 2000, we used this method to treat 167 breasts with fibrotic capsule contracture after silicon implant augmentation. According to whether there was hemorrhage it was classified into I stage substitute and II stage substitute. We have also come up with appropriate corrective method for the breasts with serious contracture or uneven inferior fold. We have also made analysis on whether they can undergo I stage hydrogel substitute after the implants were taken off, as well as whether the hydrogel can be injected in one stage for the seriously contracted capsule cavity after it was separated. Results Among all the 167 breasts, except 4 breastsin 3 cases (because of bleeding during capsule cavity expanding and separating) and another breast (bleeding due to trauma) were to have the hydrogel changed, all the others achieved satisfactory results. The shapes of the breasts were natural and felt soft. Conclusion We have achieved good curing effects by using polyacrylamide hydrogel to substitute the silicon breast implants after the fibrotic capsule contracture of the implant. From the follow-up results we can see that this is an effective method to treat this difficult-to-solve problem.
