Application of various grafts in late cranial bone defect reconstruction
Abstract:Objective In order to evaluate the curative effect of late cranial bone defect reconstruction by applying different grafts. Methods Since 1991, we have reconstructed 56 cases of late cranial bone defect by applying different grafts: 6 cases repaired by medpor, 30 cases by rib auto-graft, 8 cases by cranial bone, 8 cases by hydroxyapatite, 4 cases by silicon. Results From 6 to 12 months follow-up, the postoperative appearance was satisfactory, the success rate was up to 91.1%, but there were some complications. Conclusion Reconstruction of cranial bone defect by medpor、rib or cranial bone is very effective, but hydroxyapatite or silicon is only suitable for a few cases.
