Abstract:Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of combined determination of serum inflammatory factors for acute upper respiratory tract infection(AURTI)in children. Methods Using retrospective research method,a total of 88 children with AURTI and 88 healthy children undergoing physical examination in Qianxi People's Hospital from August 2023 to January 2024 were selected and included in observation group and control group, respectively. The blood samples of all children were collected for the detection of interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP)and procalcitonin(PCT).The level of IL-6 was measured by multiple microsphere flow immunofluorescence, using flow cytometer. The levels of CRP and PCT were measured by quantitative immunopturbidimetry, using automatic biochemical analyzer. The levels of above indexes were compared between the two groups.According to the pathogen culture results, the children with AURTI were divided into bacterial infection group(49 cases)and viral infection group(39 cases). The differences in the levels of above indicators among children infected with different pathogens were compared. The receiver operator characteristic curve(ROC curve)was drawn and the area under ROC curve(AUC)was calculated to analyze the diagnostic value of each index alone and in combination for AURTI.Results The levels of serum IL-6,CRP and PCT in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group[IL-6(ng/L):36.58±3.42 vs.10.05±1.15;CRP(mg/L):18.56±1.41 vs.2.65±0.33;PCT(μg/L):0.95±0.12 vs.0.12±0.03;all P<0.05].The levels of serum IL-6,CRP and PCT in bacterial infection group were significantly higher than those in viral infection group[IL-6(ng/L):41.89±4.12 vs.30.41±3.26;CRP(mg/L):28.89±2.35 vs.10.65±1.12;PCT(μg/L):1.45±0.35 vs.0.22±0.04;all P<0.05].The ROC curve showed that the AUC of IL-6,CRP and PCT detected separately and in combination were 0.834,0.827,0.836 and 0.957,respectively.The 95%confidence intervals(95%CI)were 0.768-0.900,0.762-0.892,0.774-0.899 and 0.925-0.990,respectively.The diagnostic value of combined detection was the highest. Conclusion The combined detection of serum IL-6,CRP and PCT could improve the diagnostic efficiency for AURTI in children, help identify diseases early, achieve precise treatment, promote infection resolution, and ensure the healthy growth of children.
