Effect analysis of PDCA cycle management method on improving compliance rate of turn around time in emergency testing items

Abstract：Objective To apply PDCA cycle management method to emergency testing items and analyze its effect on improving the compliance rate of emergency reporting turn around time(TAT).Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the TAT related data of 16655 emergency laboratory samples(including blood routine,coagulation,biochemistry,automated immunity)that did not implement PDCA cycle management in the laboratory department of Shenzhen Yantian hospital in January 1-31,2023,and 13475 emergency laboratory samples that implemented the first round of PDCA cycle management in September 1-30,2023,the role of PDCA in improving the TAT compliance rate of emergency laboratory items was explored.Results After implementing PDCA cycle management method,the TAT compliance rate of emergency testing items was 92.00%,which was significantly higher than 78.69%before implementation(P＜0.05).After implementing PDCA management,the patient satisfaction with the laboratory department was 97.00%,which was significantly higher than 89.00%before implementation(P＜0.05).Conclusion The PDCA cycle management method could effectively shorten the TAT of emergency testing items,improve the compliance rate of TAT and patient satisfaction,and is worth applying.
