Simulation of influencing factors of self-phase modulation and four-wave mixing in optical fiber communication
SUN Huo
Abstract:In order to solve the nonlinear effect of optical fiber medium and the severe attenuation of optical signal in the wavelength division multiplexing ( WDM) system during the high speed transmission process, two nonlinear effects of self-phase modulation ( SPM) and four-wave mixing ( FWM) were analyzed. With the OptiSystem simulation software, the main variable factors causing the SPM and FWM effects were analyzed. The results show that the input power, channel spacing and chromatic dispersion are the main reasons for the performance change of SPM and FWM. Through adjusting these parameters, the transmission performance of optical fiber can be optimized, which lays the foundation for further optimization.
