Abstract:In order to improve the seismic behavior of raw-soil wall, such reinforcing measures as arranging the 8 #line in the vertical direction and wire mesh in the horizontal direction were adopted, and the modified adobe was utilized to build the wall. The low cyclic loading experiment on the wall was performed with the MTS system. The results show that the root of the wall is partially crushed, and the cracks gradually propagate and continuously extend to the middle with gradually increasing the load. Finally, the cracks penetrate the raw-soil wall, and the wall is destroyed. The cohesiveness failure between the wall and bottom beam occurs easily, and more attention should be paid in the construction.Through arranging the 8 #line in the vertical direction and wire mesh in the horizontal direction, the cracking load, ultimate load and even the integrality of the wall can be enhanced.Furthermore, the deformation capacity and energy dissipation ability can be markedly improved.
