Abstract：The reliable operation of power dvisce in welding convevtor is the key technology in its design and manufactrie and must be protected effectively.In the paper,the switch characteristic and protection principles of IGBT are described.Several typical protection circuits are analyzed.A new soft switch technology is put forward.
