Abstract:Objective To evaluate the analgesic efficacy and safety of local bupivacaine liposome injection after hallux valgus correction surgery. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 60 patients who underwent Scarf osteotomy for hallux valgus in our center between December 2022 and December 2024.According to the postoperative analgesic protocol,30 patients[2 males,28 females;age 23~66 years,mean(42.5±10.2)years]received local injection of bupivacaine liposome(study group),whereas 30 patients[l male,29 females;age 21~67 years,mean(43.1±10.3)years]received conventional patient-controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA,control group).Visual analogue scale(VAS)pain scores, analgesic consumption, postoperative recovery variables, complications and adverse events were compared between the two groups. Results VAS scores at 24 h,48 h and 72 h after surgery were significantly lower in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05),and total analgesic consumption was also markedly reduced(P<0.05).Time to first ambulation, time to first weight-bearing walk and length of hospital stay were all shorter in the study group(P<0.05).The incidence of incisional infection was 3.3%in the study group and 6.7%in the control group, showing no statistical difference(P>0.05).One case of respiratory depression, three of nausea, two of vomiting and one of dizziness occurred in the control group;no such adverse events were observed in the study group. Conclusion Local injection of bupivacaine liposome provides effective and safe analgesia after hallux valgus correction surgery. It significantly relieves postoperative pain, decreases analgesic requirement and accelerates recovery, thus deserving wider clinical application.
