Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of artificial LARS ligament reconstruction after chronic ankle instability caused by sports injury with that of enhanced lateral ankle ligament suture repair under full microscope. Methods The data of 50 patients with exceptional ankle ligament injury admitted to the Department of Orthopaedics of the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army from January 2018 to January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. All of them were male, aged 19 to 50 years, with an average age of(24.24±3.31)years.There were 37 cases of left ankle and 13 cases of right ankle.According to the surgical method,25 patients were included in the LARS ligament group(undergoing artificial LARS ligament reconstruction)and the anchor wire group(undergoing full-scope enhanced suture repair of the external ankle ligament).Incision healing at 2 weeks after surgery and before and after surgery were compared between the two groups.American orthopaedic foot and ankle society(AOFAS)ankle and hindfoot function score, ankle function Karlsson score,Tenger motor score, visual analogue scale(V AS),and postoperative adverse reactions. Results All patients were followed up for more than 12 months after surgery. The mean follow-up time was(12.4±0.71)months in the anchor wire group and(12.28±0.46)months in the LARS ligament group. At 12 months after surgery,AOFAS score,Karlsson score,Tenger score and VAS in the anchor line group were better than those in the LARS ligament group(P<0.05).During the follow-up period, there were no serious adverse reactions such as nerve injury,intra-articular infection, and nail removal. Conclusion Compared with artificial LARS ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic enhanced repair of external ankle ligament suture for chronic ankle instability has satisfactory short-term efficacy and no serious adverse reactions, and is recommended for clinical application.
