Abstract:Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the influencing factors of artificial joint forgetting in patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee after the treatment of the third-generation Oxford unicompartmental arthroplasty. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 182 patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee admitted to the Red Cross Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Medicine between February 2022 and March 2023.Based on the forgotten joint score(FJS)-12,patients were divided into two groups:The unforgotten group[142 patients,FJS-12<50,including 36 males and 106 females, aged 55~70 years, mean age(58.91±12.09)years,mean body mass index(BMI)(24.01±2.76)kg/m2]and the forgetting group[40 patients,FJS-12≥50,including 7 males and 33 females, aged 48~54 years, mean age(51.87±12.31)years,mean BMI(21.13±2.87)kg/m2].Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the factors influencing artificial joint forgetting in these patients. Results The forgetting group had lower age and BMI compared to the unforgotten group(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of gender, disease duration, smoking history, coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus,or hyperlipidemia(P>0.05).At 12 months postoperatively, there were no significant differences in the hospital for special surgery(HSS)score, visual analog scale(VAS)pain score,or knee range of motion between the groups(P>0.05).Univariate logistic regression analysis revealed that age,BMI,preoperative HSS score, preoperative VAS,and preoperative knee range of motion were significant factors(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis further confirmed that age,BMI,and preoperative VAS were independently associated with artificial joint forgetting(P<0.05).Conclusion Patient age,BMI,and preoperative pain severity were the influencing factors of prosthetic joint forgetting after the treatment of medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee with the third generation of Oxford unicompartmental arthroplasty.
