Abstract:Objective To evaluate the factors associated with length of hospital stay of patients with intertrochanteric fracture. Methods We retrospectively retrieved data of 153 patients with intertrochanteric fracture between January 2016 and December 2017.The data included age, gender, body mass index, fracture type, interval between fracture and admission, interval between admission and surgery, interval between fracture and surgery, surgery type, ASA grade, Charlson comorbidity index, hemoglobin level and serum albumin. Results In univariable analyses, we found interval between admission and surgery, interval between fracture and surgery, hemoglobin level, serum albumin, gender, ASA grade and Charlson comorbidity index were significantly associated with length of hospital stay.Multivariable linear regression analysis suggested interval between admission and surgery (P<0.001) and Charlson comorbidity index≥1 (P=0.029) were related to increased length of hospital stay. Conclusion Delayed surgery and higher Charlson comorbidity index would extent the length of hospital stay of patients with intertrochanteric fracture.
