Abstract:Objective To investigate relationship between decrease in serum sodium level and bone mineral density in os-teoporotic fracture patients. Methods During January 2013 to January 2015 in our hospital, according to the degree of bone osteoporosis,150 cases of patients with osteoporotic fracture were divided into the severe osteoporosis group and the mild osteo-porosis group, and 150 cases of healthy people in examination of our hospital were selected as the control group of the same pe-riod,to compare the clinical data and serum sodium levels of the osteoporosis group, the control group, severe osteoporosis and mild osteoporosis group. Logistic regression analysis of risk factors for osteoporotic fractures. Results The differences of the data about BMI,serum BUN,serum albumin fasting blood glucose and bone mineral density T-score of the osteoporosis group and the control group were statistically significant(P < 0. 05);serum sodium concentration of the patients in the osteoporosis group(139. 3 ± 1. 3)mmol/ L was significantly lower than the control group(142. 8 ± 1. 5)mmol/ L(P < 0. 05);serum sodium concentration of the patients in the severe osteoporosis(138. 6 ± 1. 7)mmol/ L was significantly lower than the mild osteoporo-sis patients(140. 4 ± 1. 3)mmol/ L(P < 0. 05);Logistic regression analysis showed that age and serum sodium level were risk factors of osteoporotic fractures(OR = 1. 088,P = 0. 008,95% CI = 1. 022 ~ 1. 157;OR = 0. 869,P = 0. 038,95% CI = 0. 713~ 0. 989)(P < 0. 05). Conclusion Low serum sodium may aggravate the severity of osteoporosis of the osteoporotic fracture patients, and is an independent risk factor for osteoporotic fractures. It is worth to be concerned about the clinical diagnostic process.
