Comparement between Unilateral Knee Arthroplasty and Total Knee Arthroplasty in Patient Self-concerous of the Implant

Abstract：Objective To compare the forgotten joint scores between patients who underwent medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty(UKA)and patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty(TKA)1 and 2 years post-operatively. Methods 90 patients of osteoarthritis underwent TKA or UKA were retrospectively analyzed from January 2012 to January 2015. Accord-ing to prosthesis types,they were divided into TKA group and UKA group. There were 45 patients in both groups. There were 20 cases of male,25 of females with an average age of(65. 9 ± 9. 5)years. The average body mass index was(29. 2 ± 4. 2)kg/m2 . In TKA group,21 cases were male,24 of females,The average age was(68. 6 ± 8. 7)years. The average body mass index was(31. 2 ± 3. 6)kg/ m2;We compared FJS and HSS of UKA group and TKA group patients after 1 year and 2 years after op-eration. Results In UKA group,FJS score was(74. 1 ± 2. 4)after 1 year and(74. 7 ± 2. 2)after 2 years;In TKA group FJS score was(60. 1 ± 3. 1)after 1 year and(60. 5 ± 2. 1)after 2 years. There were significant differences of FJS scores between the two groups(P < 0. 05). 1 year and 2 years after surgery,compared with patients in the same group,there were no signifi-cant differences of FJS index(P > 0. 05). In UKA patients HSS score at 1 year after operation was(84. 1 ± 3. 5),and(88. 1 ± 3. 2)at 2 years after operation. In patients in the TKA group,HSS score 1 year after operation was(80. 1 ± 3. 7),and 2 years after the operation was(86. 1 ± 3. 3). In UKA group,HSS score was significantly higher than that of TKA group 1 year after operation(P < 0. 05). There were no significant difference of HSS between UKA group and TKA group 2 years after oper-ation(P > 0. 05). Conclusion Patients who underwent UKA are more likely to forget their artificial joint and consequently may be more satisfied.
