The Application of Llizarov Technique in Treatment of Knee Varus Deformity
Abstract：Objective We perform to evaluate the superiority of minimally invasive osteotomy by useing the Ilizarov exter-nal fixator. Methods From January 2008 to October 2011,23 patients with trauma-related knee varus deformity in our hospi-tal were collected,17 males and 6 females were involved with an average age of 28 years(13 ~ 45 years),the minimally inva-sive osteotomy under tibial tubercle and Ilizarov′s external fixation techniques were applied. Results The incision of 23 pa-tients osteotomy surface got bone union,the mean healing time was 12 weeks. The activity of knee joint was significantly im-proved,and so did the VAS score(P < 0. 05). The tibiofemoral angle and tibial angle was significantly improved after operation (P < 0. 05). The difference of lower limbs length was less than 2 cm. The excellent and good rate was 91. 3% . The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score(KOOS)was used. Conclusion Ilizarov external fixation technique is safe and effective in the treatment of traumatic knee varus deformity and it has advantages for patients with poor skin condition around the knee.
