Abstract:Objective To explore the curative effect of Flexible intramedullary nail and steel plate for treating children with the radius and ulna fracture. Methods 100 cases with the radius and ulna fracture treated in our hospital were chosen between January 2011 and January 2014 for retrospectively study. The patients were given elastic nails( TEN)for the treatment as observation group(50 cases),and others were given steel plate treatment as control group(50 cases). The related aspects during the surgery and hospitalization, postoperative pain in 3 days, the occurrence of postoperative complications and treatment effect of 10 months after discharge of two groups were observed and compared. Results The operation time, incision length,in-traoperative blood loss, hospitalization time, fracture healing time of observation group were significantly lower than the control group(P﹤0. 01). The Pain VAS score of two groups with 3 days after surgery reduced compared with before treatment, but the VAS pain score of observation group were significantly lower than the control group patients three days after surgery( P ﹤0. 01). The postoperative incision infection, loosening of internal fixation and incidence of complications of Observation group were significantly lower than the control group(P﹤0. 05). The failure cases of two groups after 10 months were 0,but the treatment effect of observation group in 10 months after hospital discharge was significantly higher than the control group( P﹤0. 05). Conclusion The Flexible intramedullary nail treat children with the radius and ulna fracture with advantage of small trauma, shorter hospitalization time, fast healing of fracture and postoperative children with less pain, fewer complications, and higher rate of good effect of infants after discharge compared with Steel plate treatment.
