A Comparative Study of Allograft Versus Autograft Grafting in Bone Defect
Abstract:Objective To analyze the effectiveness of allograft versus autograft grafting in proximal tibial giant cell tumor bone defect. Methods From 2010 March to 2013 March,34 patients of proximal tibial giant cell tumor bone treated with cu-rettage combined bone grafting(allogeneic;group A,n = 17;autologous;group B,n = 17)were reviewed and analyzed. In group A,there were 7 men and 10 women, with the mean age of 27 years(from 19 to 38 years),all patients were packed with al-lograft. In group B,there were 9 men and 8 women, with the mean age of 28 years(from 18 to 39 years). All patients were packed with auto iliac crest bone. Exercise lasted 12 weeks with external orthosis fixation in both group. Results Compared with group B,group A had a shorter operate time and less bleeding volume(P ﹤ 0. 05). All patients were followed up for 28 months(from 12 ~ 36months)and had no complications, recurrence or fracture. All the bone grafting showed ideal appearance in X-ray photograph. Mankin criteria were used to evaluate the curative effect. Group A had excellent in 14 cases, good in 3 ca-ses;group B had excellent in 15 cases, good in 2 cases, there was no significant difference between two groups(P ﹥ 0. 05). Conclusion Allogeneic bone grafting has a good clinical result for proximal tibial giant cell tumor bone defect. It's safe and effective.
