Cable and Plate Combined with Anti-osteoporosis Treatment for VancouverB1 Periprosthetic Femo-ral Fracture
Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical therapeutic effects of cable and plate combined with anti-osteoporosis treatment for VancouverB1 periprosthetic femoral fracture. Methods From May. 2007 to June. 2013,9 cases of Vancouver type B1 periprosthetic femur fractures were treated by open reduction and fixation with cable and plate combined with anti-oste-oporosis,and their fracture union and hip function were evaluated postoperatively. Periprosthetic regions of interest(ROI)were defined according to Gruen. Bone mineral density(BMD)was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in 3 days after the surgery. Results 9 patients were followed up for 12 ~ 36 months(average 19 months). All fractures healed without infec-tion,breakage of internal fixation and femoral prosthesis loosening or sink. Harris score were75 ~ 92(mean:86),and the excel-lent and good rate was 77% . Compared with the non-surgical proximal femur, the periprosthetic BMD was insignificantly de-creased in all ROI postoperatively(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion Cable and plate combined with anti-osteoporosis are good way to treat Vancouver B1 type periprosthetic femur fracture. They can get good recovery function postoperatively.
