Comparison of Two Different Surgical Treatment of Type C Distal Radius Fractures

Abstract：Objective To compare and analysis the curative effect of external fixator with LCP plate in treatment of type C distal radius fractures. Methods 68 type C distal radius fractures cases in our department were divided into external fixator group which included 28 cases and LCP plate group which included 40 cases based on the operation type. According to AO classification,there were 12 cases of C1 14 cases of C2 ,2 cases of C3 in extemal fixation group;and 16 cases of C1 ,18 cases of C2 ,6 cases of C3 in the LCP group. The radiographic and functional indicators index were detected after surgery,and the cont-rastive analysis of the therapeutic effect of the two groups were statistically processed using the Garland-Werley functional score standard. Results Two groups of patients were healed as the X-ray showed. The radius height ulnar deviation,wrist flexion and dorsal extension,ulnar and radial deviation,pronation and supination function,and Garland-Werley comparison had no signifi-cant difference. The palmar tilts were 7. 15 ± 2. 98 in external fixation group and 11. 71 ± 3. 02 in LCP Steel Group. LCP plate group was better than the external fixation group. 12 cases of external fixation were excellent,good in 9 cases and common 7 ca-ses,the excellent and good rate was 75% ;16 cases of LCP were excellent,good in 18 cases,and common 6 cases,the excellent and good rate was 85. 0% ,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups with the excellent and good rate(P > 0. 05,χ2 = 1. 065). In the external fixation group,there were pin tract infection in 4 cases,joint loosening in 1 cases, wrist stiff joints in 3 cases,complication rate was 28. 57% ;In the LCP plate group,postoperative wound infection in 3 cases, median nerve injury in 1 cases,fixation loosening in 1 cases,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups with the excellent and good rate(P > 0. 05,χ2 = 2. 751). Conclusion Two kinds of fixation can obtain satisfactory clinical effect,in the treatment of type C fractures of the distal radius,but patient imaging is better than external fixation group with the reliable fixation by the LCP plate fixation type.
