Early Follow-up Outcome of CT-guided Percutaneous Vertebroplasty in the Treatment of Symptom-atic Vertebral Hemangioma
Abstract:Objective To discuss the primary efficacy of vertebral hemangiomas treated with the CT-guided percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP). Methods 26 cases(12 males and 14 females)with 29 vertebral lesions with an average age of 52. 1 (range,35 ~ 77)were and injected with bone cement percutaneous into the vertebral under CT guidance between April 2010 and May 2013. Visual analogue scale(VAS)were used to assess pain of patients and Oswestry disability index(ODI)were used to assess patients' life quality preoperatively and 3 d,14 d,180 d postoperatively. Results All cases were performed suc-cessfully. The success rate in all patients was 100%(26 / 26)without serious complications. Postoperative score of VAS was significantly lower than preoperative score(P < 0. 05). The significantly difference could be observed among the preoperative and postoperative scores of ODI for each observed time point(P < 0. 05). Conclusion CT-guided percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP)for vertebral hemangioma effectively relieve the pain caused by vertebral body and increases stability. PVP is a mini-mally invasive, effective, and safe treatment for symptomatic vertebral hemangioma.
